Job Description : Perform quality assurance duties related to detailed phases of QA plans/programs. Evaluate supplier quality control systems and perform direct surveillance and inspection, as assigned, to ensure conformance with established QA policies and procedures at plant locations, customer sites, and suppliers. Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:• Conduct various QA activities to assure full compliance with appropriate internal and external requirements.• Independently resolve internal and external QA problems or questions.• Perform audits and investigations applying specific knowledge of regulatory and contractual codes, standards, and other requirements.• Participate in design reviews, procurements, in-process and final hardware acceptance, design specifications, vendor selection, resolution of nonconforming conditions, and similar activities.• Develop and implement QA procedures, plans, and specifications.• Recommend improvements in QA program processes and procedures.• Conduct surveys of potential suppliers.• Review purchase requisitions and work instructions for compliance with quality requirements.• Develop inspection plans and checklists.• Coordinate oversight by external agencies and clients. Engineered Products DivisionEPD is one of the best equipped facilities for precision fabrication and machining in the southwest. We have a unique combination of highly skilled staff, an extensive nuclear quality assurance program, and the capability to handle a wide variety of cutting, forming, finishing, and testing operations. EPD has a long history of building and maintaining specialty containers for DOE cleanup projects. We also serve other industries including construction, mining, oil and gas, and commercial nuclear. EPD has experience with gloveboxes, modular process skids, piping systems, structural steel, pressure vessels, high integrity containers, and more. Capabilities: EPD provides metal machining, fabrication, non-destructive examination, repair, and testing services. We have one of the best equipped shops in the Southwest with more than 100 machine tools (both CNC and manual), the latest MIG and TIG resistance welding equipment, a wide variety of cutting, forming, and finishing equipment, and up to 20 ton overhead crane capacity. We have the capability and capacity to handle large production runs as well as smaller projects. Quality: EPD’s NQA-1 quality program (the nuclear standard) sets us apart. Individual, as a Senior Engineer, Analyst, or Subject Matter Expert will be part of a Government, Prime, and Support Contractor team to perform quality assurance related functions to include:• Quality assurance reviews• Independent, non-advocate assessments• Studies, audits, inspections, investigations of control and measurement programs, processes, and procedures• Process deficiencies and risk indicators• Quality performance metrics• Six Sigma and Malcolm Baldridge criteria• Other quality related tasks as requiredThe primary duty locations are:• Huntsville, AL• Washington DC• Colorado Springs, COSome work will also be performed in:• Albuquerque, NM• Los Angeles, CA• Fort Greely, AKSome periodic travel may be required from any of the locations. The individual is expected to rapidly learn the MDA system from hands on experience as well as limited formal training and be able to effectively work directly with a wide cross section of the Agency.Specific Duties: As a Senior Level Engineer, Analyst, or Subject Matter Expert, the individual must be capable of quickly assimilating, learning, and producing in the following broad tasks:• Assist with the development and implementation of the MDA quality assurance program• Provide quality assurance knowledge and expertise in the development, implementation, execution, and assessment of quality assurance processes, and procedures• Perform quality assurance reviews; independent, non-advocate assessments, studies, and supplier assurance audits of programs, projects and operations• Perform assessments of quality control and measurement programs; initiate and implement measurement systems for statistical control of processes and procedures• Identify process deficiencies and facilitate corrective action to address root causes; conduct analyses to include inspection findings• Support the development and documentation of workmanship, electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical parts and materials requirements, and design criteria for the manufacture of space flight, aeronautics, and mission critical ground support electronic hardware, and software• Provide quality assurance support for performance metrics, defect codes, quality clauses, risk indicators, and surveillance• Provide guidance, best practices, lessons learned and tools for surveillance activities• Provide quality assurance technical expertise in support of hardware/software design, and ground/flight tests operation• Assist in coordinating, correlating, comparing, and obtaining consensus on specifications and standards among government and industry• Support projects such as Six Sigma, and Malcolm Baldridge• Attend quality related meetings, as requested by government
