Description:
Position Statement: Administers the plant’s quality management system and serves as the Management Representative as defined by API Q1 / ISO 9001. Liaisons with the plant’s management team to ensure quality-related processes, procedures, and records are documented, controlled, and implemented. Communicates and advocates the plant’s quality-related processes to employees, customers, auditors, and suppliers. Ensures adequate staffing of related functional responsibilities reporting to the QA Manager.   Responsibilities: Ensure applicable division, regulatory, and customer requirements affecting quality are communicated, understood, and acted upon by department personnel. Formulates, documents, and administers policies, procedures, and processes to enhance quality. Works with the management team to define and implement a quality improvement strategy which delivers financial benefits to the plant and to customers. Identifies and champions improvement through the analysis of non-conformance data, internal audits, external audits, supplier non-conformance, and customer complaints. Responsible for establishing and ensuring that preventative actions are implemented and corrective actions are taken within area of responsibility. Works closely with the plant’s management team to ensure and demonstrate compliance to ISO / API regulatory requirements to auditors and customers. Supervises personnel and other supervisor(s) involved in quality control, quality assurance, and records. Handles special continuous-improvement projects, as assigned. Participates in cross-plant standardization processes that promote Division Quality. Assists in recruiting new employees reporting to the quality organization. Ensures customer’s special quality requirements are implemented into the products and services delivered. Skills/knowledge:   Knowledge of current trends and developments in Quality Assurance. Knowledge of manufacturing and inspection processes and practices. Basic knowledge of the plant products. Knowledge of industry standards and specifications affecting the plant’s products and services. Good verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to write customer and management reports that are concise, and grammatically and structurally professional and sensitive to the intended audience. Excellent analytical skills. Demonstrated ability and confidence to create and conduct presentations to customers and employees. Use of continuous improvement process and tools to understand, investigate, consider, implement, and follow-up projects. A basic familiarity of SAP, Excel, and Access to acquire information needed to support written reports and presentations. Ability to translate and communicate industry standard and specification requirements in a language appropriate for the culture and demographics of the organization. Ability to lead training on quality-related issues including new-employee orientation and as-required to address changes in internal procedures and industry standards and specifications.    Additional information: 1 - 2 international trips per year with an average duration of one week. Must be able to effectively balance and integrate the global perspective of the world-wide Division Quality organization with the cost-center perspective of the plant   Education:    High School Diploma or equivalent, Bachelor's Degree preferred 7+ years experience in quality or technical positions.
