Quality Assurance Manager Position Summary: Has overall responsibility for the management and implementation of the LES QAP (SAR pp 2.2-1). Provide management and subject matter expertise for the delivery of Quality Assurance services for URENCO USA. Establish a quality assurance program system and team that ensures regulatory compliance and promotes customer satisfaction and positively impacts the performance of URENCO USA. Champion continuous improvement efforts and defect reduction initiatives to establish an effective Quality Management System (QMS). Initiate and implement quality improvement activities as appropriate to raise the performance of the company's product lines. Educate and train employees as to their impact in the quality management system. Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to the following): Ensure audits and surveillances are performed per a schedule which supports our license and promotes continued improvement. Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing quality assurance and the customer. Design, implement and document procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection. Establish and implement metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring system effectiveness and to enable managers to make sound product quality decisions. Report to management on quality issues, trends and losses. Maintains a direct line of communication with the COO and the CNO for quality concerns and for adequate stop work authority (SAR pp2.2-2) Perform root-cause analysis and other problem solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements. Ensure vendors are qualified and monitor vendor performance. Review purchase orders, contracts and change requests and ensure that the necessary criteria and provisions are included in quality and process plans. Interact with customers to identify opportunities to improve quality and establish feedback with manufacturing and development personnel. Oversee calibration and testing programs. Review suppliers purchase orders and establish supplier quality requirements. Participate in internal and external quality audits. Interface with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and assure that effective corrective action is implemented. Audit MC&A practices including an assessment of the effectiveness of the MC&A processes. Serve as the primary quality control resource for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement. Manage quality assurance and control personnel on a day-to-day basis. Examines product flow through Receiving Inspection or Manufacturing and implements improvements in quality control methods, including skip lot inspection, dock-to-stock and supplier certification. Generates general and specific inspection instructions providing guidance and direction for quality control inspectors. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs. Job Qualifications (refers to job, not incumbent): Education: Minimum: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in an engineering or scientific field. Experience: Minimum: 6 years of responsible nuclear experience in the implementation of a quality assurance program. The QA Manager shall have at least four years experience in a Quality Assurance organization at a nuclear facility. Licenses, Certifications or Registrations: None Other: Broad knowledge of statistics and statistical process control. Experience in quality systems. Knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques and documentation. Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Strong computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets and databases. Thorough understanding of general safety requirements. Training in foreign object damage awareness. Understanding of Mil Standards. Physical Demands: Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts, driving an automobile, etc. uneven ground, ladders, harness for climbing, dust, rain, snow; hearing protection for high noise environment; ability to climb heights; avoid equipment and general construction hazards.
