Quality Assurance/Quality Control Specialist Department/School: Facility Management Salary Range/hourly rate: Salary Range $54,191 - $72,896 Work Year/Schedule: 245-day Work Year Term: January 2009 through the term of the Bond (5 years), December 31, 2014 Application Due Date: March 16, 2010 This position will directly support the District’s 2009 Capital Bond program. This is a temporary position that will be required only during the period of the bond project. Manages facility design and construction projects for the District. Plan, organize, coordinate, evaluate, and direct activities of architects, engineers, contractors and other contracted suppliers to ensure that the District’s buildings are safe, aesthetically pleasing, economically maintainable, energy efficient, and functionally sound to meet all programmatic requirements. Objective: The QA/QC Specialist reviews, inspects and documents all construction projects during the construction period of the 2008 General Obligation Bond Program. Responsible for providing input to the QA/QC Supervisor related to the development and implementation of DPS construction and design standards. Actively participates in the quality control/quality assurance program including review of all projects from design through execution, documentation, progress reporting, conflict resolution and final acceptance of projects on behalf of the DPS Operations and Maintenance Department. The QA/QC division is responsible for ensuring aquality installtions tht teduce future asset operation and maintnenace costs, resulting in improved utilization fo DPS operations and maintnenace resources. Essential Functions: Responsible for maintaining construction/installation control methods and documentation (Standards). Evaluate new/alternate methods and materials as a cost saving measure. Maintain current construction standards, updting/revising standards to match current technology. Prepare daily, weekly and monthly tracking reports related to project review, inspection, issue resolution and compliance documentation Coordinate issue resolution with Construction Services Project Manager and the QA/QC Supervisor. Remain current with local codes and building standards. Consult/coordinate with DPS Facility Planning, Construction Services, Engineering, contracted Architects and Engineers, contractors and factory representatives as necessary. Monitor all projects for safety compliance. Participate in district related meetings as required. Must be available for weekend and holiday work as required. Performs other related duties, including special projects, as assigned. Education/Experience: •Minimum of 5 years experience directing, monitoring and administrating a multiple facilites maintenace organization with multiple builidng trades in a pulbic or private organization. •Graduate of a standard high school or equivalent. •Training and/or equivalent experience in cost estimating, blueprint reading, business, public and customer relations. •Proficient at computer operation including all Microsoft office products, and ability to learn other software utilized in performance of job duties. Licensure/Certification: •Must hold and maintain a valid Colorado Class “C” drivers license •Must meet the Denver Public Schools vehicle operator insurability requirements Performance: Current employees must have demonstrated experience performing in compliance with established district and departmental policies regarding: attendance (absences, tardiness, sick leave and vacation use, and other scheduled or unscheduled absences); dress code; safety; security, and other policies procedures and practices. All other candidates are expected to comply with the above conditions during employment. Physical/Environmental Characteristics: Essential duties are routinely performed on a construction site, including exposure to the following: outdoor weather conditions, low lighting, moving machinery and heavy equipment, ladders and man-lift devices, excavations and temporary walkways. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, vibration, high precarious places, high noise levels and toxic or caustic chemicals. The general office work environment may regularly require sitting at a work station/desk plus movement while completing paperwork or using computers, printers, calculators, copiers, fax machines and other business office machines and equipment. Essential duties may involve: kneeling, squatting, crouching, stooping, crawling, standing, bending, climbing as required. Compliance to security and safety procedures, including use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is required.
