Essential Duties and Responsibilities Direct the identification and implementation of quality systems for the lab in Seattle, Washington and outsourced manufacturing quality control and install document control and design stage systems to assist in the scale-up from the lab to pilot to production. This includes analysis of current systems, improvements to the current systems and implementation of programs and methods to guarantee the delivery of fit for use products to customers. Lead the supply chain partners to develop adequate quality control and assurance of the key process intermediates and final product. Develop a change management process for process improvements. Translate specifications from the Company’s Research & Development team into process controls at production scale to ensure product quality. Work with the R&D team to ensure that QC metrics are simple and practical to implement in production. Develop and install the necessary quality systems for the plant in Oregon. Articulate a quality strategy to internal and external constituencies including the management team, partners, customers and Board of Directors. Recruit and manage both direct and indirect members of the quality management team. Create and manage budgets for the quality function. Apply continuous improvement activities to lower production cost and improve quality. Work closely with R&D to establish the technical roadmap for future production lines. Advise the executive team on quality strategy. Job Qualifications Minimum qualifications for the position include: 10 years of directly relevant quality systems experience in the chemical processing (or similar) industry, including a minimum of 5 years at the quality manager or senior quality manager level. Experience working in a multiple process operation. Experience managing an ISO 9001 compliant plant. Direct experience managing quality systems, including but not limited to: - Document control - Change management - Corrective and preventative action systems - Control of non-conforming product - Internal audits - Records retention - Root cause analysis methodology - Quality metrics for chemical processes. First-hand experience migrating laboratory processes from pilot scale to full production lines. Ability to effectively communicate quality management concepts to all levels in the organization. 5 years’ experience recruiting and managing quality technical and technician staff. Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or related field. Preference will be given to candidates with attributes and skills that include: Experience with polymer reactor chemistry and/or industrial scale chemical manufacturing unit operations, including drying, particle size reduction and calcination processes. Experience with environmental, safety and health systems. Previous experience with a start-up technology company. Six sigma green belt / black belt. Master’s degree in Engineering or Business. 217129-052 Job Description Under the supervision of the Quality Manager perform Quality Assurance functions to ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and protocol.  As a member of the facility management team, work to ensure compliance with all regulatory and quality standards. Provide accurate reports of the facility’s state of quality and compliance to the Division Head of Quality. Oversee the workload and assign tasks to the Quality Associate. This may include participation in the evaluation and counseling of the Quality Associate in conjunction with the Quality Manager. Participate in internal and external audits of the facility. Release product for shipment after review of pertinent DMS and facility records for conformance to requirements described in SOPs relating to production, testing, and storage of plasma. Perform weekly Quality Assurance observations of center employees. Verify that samples shipped to the testing laboratories are correctly labeled and prepared for shipment. Assure that all center incidents are properly documented using the error management system (e.g. Internal Investigation Report); perform root cause analysis and determine corrective actions. Review reports generated in various product management procedures for accuracy and completeness. Review information in selected donor record files for accuracy and completeness. Inspect supplies and materials for compliance with requirements prior to release for use. Review equipment maintenance, calibrations, and incidences for accuracy and completeness. Assure that CLIA proficiency test surveys, customer complaint investigations and employee training have been properly documented. Perform internal audits as required by SOP. Review quality control for test reagents to ensure they have been performed as required and are within acceptable ranges. Provide suggestions to corporate management proposing updates and revisions to standard operating procedures. Verify that the most recent approved procedures and forms are in the center’s procedure manuals.
