If you are one of these talented professionals, we are currently seeking a Field Engineer for our location on the Southeast side of Houston, off Hwy. 288. COMPANY : TAS is a Houston based, privately owned company which provides engineered, modular energy conversion systems. These energy conversion systems can include heat to power, electricity to chilled water, heat to chilled water and simpler modular packaged systems. The modular chilled water plants are used in gas turbine inlet air cooling systems for the power generation industry as well as for process cooling, district cooling plants and large building chilled water central plant/HVAC applications. The Company provides all design, engineering, procurement, fabrication, and assembly as well as start-up, installation supervision and maintenance of these systems. All systems are designed by TAS’ in-house engineering teams with the products being packaged in TAS’ 200,000 sq. ft fabrication facility in Houston, TX. OVERVIEW : The Field Engineer’s role is to provide field customer support in commissioning, trouble-shooting, repair or retrofit of the mechanical systems of a project. This position is responsible for trouble-shooting mechanical equipment, and controls, communications, computers, where called upon, and for the documentation of these procedures. The position requires close interface with the Quality Department, Project Engineers and Project Managers, Process Engineer, client personnel, and with other Field Engineers and Service Technicians. At times, the Mechanical Field Engineer will fill in for either the Electrical Filed Engineer, The instrument and controls Field Engineer, or both. The Field Engineer also assists in monitoring Quality Assurance requirements for completed equipment, and may perform QC checks, or oversee the same. The Field Engineer will compile O&M information, transmit critical O&M information during the design and construction phases of the project, and assist in compilation of the final sets of IOM manuals. The Field Engineer will provide Commissioning of the Mechanical portion of the project. The Field Engineer reports to the Customer Service Manager. However, this position requires some interface with the Project manager, Production Manager, QA manager, and the Engineering manager, as well as with client personnel or consulting engineers. Cross training in controls and electrical systems is required. KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES : The Field Engineer may compile O&M information. Transmit critical O&M information during a project Assist in compilation of the final sets of IOM manuals. Feedback from the field is an integral part of the position. Create legible “red-line” drawings to submit to Project Manager Arrange for a timely hand-off from construction function Direct the field commissioning of a project. Responsible for trouble-shooting all mechanical equipment The Field Engineer will provide documented Commissioning of the mechanical portion (at a minimum) of the project. The position requires close interface with other Field Engineers, Project Engineers and Project managers, with the mechanical and electrical engineers, with service technicians, and with the client’s personnel. The Field Engineer may be required to assist the Production Department in assembly, or in training of factory personnel The Field Engineer will also assist in Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions Will possibly perform or oversee QC checks. JOB SKILLS : Ability to perform drafting work on AutoCAD 2000 is particularly beneficial. The qualified candidate must have computer skills, including MS Office projects and exposure to at least one brand of electronic controls. RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE : Significant project field experience is required in construction support, startup, repair, and maintenance work, and in refrigeration. The preferred candidate should have at least 5 years experience in refrigeration project management. The qualified candidate should have industrial HAAC, energy service contracting, or central refrigeration plant experience. Power generation experience particularly with gas turbines, is a plus. The position requires previous experience with verification of compliance with ASHRAE, ASME, and other relevant codes and practices. Significant project field experience is required in construction support, startup, repair, and/or maintenance work. EDUCATION AND TRAINING : A degree in engineering from an accredited three or four-year engineering program, in one of several disciplines: Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Process, Industrial, etc. is preferred. Military training and/or technical work experience could be considered in lieu of an engineering degree. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: This position required extensive travel to both domestic and international job sites. Ability to work in field construction conditions is required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT : Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Attendance to meetings and some equipment inspection in a shop environment may be required. Performs physical activities including use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, talking, hearing and performing repetitive motions. Visual acuity requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision necessary to prepare and analyze data and figures, operate a computer terminal and conduct extensive reading. . The incumbent will be subject to both “inside” and “outside” environmental conditions. Outside conditions may include standing, walking, and climbing of stairs or ladders. Extensive travel, including commercial air travel is required.
